The Parents' Child

The Parents' Child

Proverbs 15:1 NIV

A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

***

As a young boy who got a scholarship to study throughout secondary school, with God's help I was a sharp boy.

.

As I metamorphosed into a teenage boy, coupled with the people I was surrounded with back then, I began to figure out I was getting dull. I don't remember things on time and it was hard. I began to crosscheck the new me versus my previous me.

.

I discovered it wasn't my problem but the people around me. The shout on me, the bad words, the depressing statements and the trash news were beginning to tell on my soul...as I began drifting into the dullness of my mind.

.

You know when people tell you stuff that doesn't add up? Yeah, you guess right. It took God and a change of environment to give me another perspective and I began to see myself in the true light of God's word.

.

As I grew up, I understood the effect of words on people, using myself as an example. I wish parents or guardian would choose their words carefully. It can make or break.

.

Your child will remember what you say often and subconsciously it grows into their soul and becomes a habit.

.

Proverbs 29:15 NIV

A rod and a reprimand impart wisdom, but a child left undisciplined disgraces its mother.

***

You can discipline your child, the bible supports it, even with a rod. But you'll need to learn the balance to help them live righteously the way you want. You never can tell what that child will become, but your words will give them a clue as to what they'll be.

.

Most importantly, let your children know the Lord. There are many things parents will not be able to do, only God can.

Once you put them in God's way, with proper follow-up, they won't depart from it.

.

Your child matters!

.

Yeah, that was my story.
