THE POWER OF UNITY
….the 3 mighty men
(2 Sam 23vs8-17)
“There’s two things that can move God, one is the aroma of our faith, secondly is the steadfastness of our unity”. This talks about the power of agreement that The Lord Jesus talks about. There’s power in unity. If there’s a home that is flourishing, if there’s an organization standing tall today, if there’s a relationship blossoming, it is because there’s unity in there. The Lord Jesus said, “A house that divides against itself cannot stand.”
“Can two walk together except they agree?” Amos 3vs3
If there’s one thing lacking in the church today, it is the absence of unity!
Disunity among workers, among pastors, among the body of Christ. One claiming this is my church, another saying this is my church. They make everything looks confusing. Apostle Paul asked: is Christ divvied? We will achieve far greater if we unite together to fulfill the Lords purpose. During the days of the Apostles, there’s was massive outbreak of miracles, healing and salvation of souls. There’s purse was one, not divided. They put down all their welfare for the edification of Christians hospitality. They were united, in all. That is why the Lord is able to move miraculously in their midst. Until we begin to see ourselves as A CHURCH, and not as DENOMINATION, we would achieve more for the Lord. The Lord Jesus came to establish His church, and not a denomination. God sees us as one- the body of Christ. ( 1 Cor 12)
If Paul planted and Apollo waters, there’s no problem as the sower and the seed and the growth belongs to God. Our incomplete is completed by the grace of the Lord. Why unity is important is that, we can’t go far when we grow in disunity.
Lets look at the 3 mighty men
Lessons from them.
One truth that the Holy Spirit thought me from their story is the power of unity. These 3 men are mighty, skilled and self sufficient on their own. They have records of great achievement that makes them standout. They accolades of greatness that make them special from other people. They are giants in their own domain, fearless and bold. But the request of their master David, make them to do the unusual.
“And David longed to drink water”?
Just as God is longing for souls and productivity from the gifts and anointing He has bestowed upon us.
Each of these men could have take to the challenges on their own, they realize by uniting they will achieve great. They team up. Each one doesn't look at himself as mighty. They submit themselves to one another. They lean on each other to get things done in a unique way!
They didn't lean onto their own strength, there’s place strength fails. But unity will help a man.
They understand the power of trust. Even though, that were men of notable achievement, they still trust one another to confront the journey!
They see each other as one. Until we see ourselves as one, we can’t win the war long.
They were able to win together. I tell you, it is absolutely impossible for anyone of them to survive. Because of the danger that surround them as they went as far as the Philistines garrison. It will be impossible for anyone to depend on his win strength. When we team up, rather than struggling in solitaries we will have our strength doubled to win the war.
They serve as protection or each other
When each other strength fails, the other will lift up the other. Being in a danger zone, as one is watching, one is fighting, just to accomplished the purpose,
The enemy won’t be able to win us if we stand firm in unity.
According to psalm 133, there are 2 things that will happen if we stand in unity. Blessing, grace and strength is serve equal. There’s help, quickening and revival for each of us. When we stand as one as a church, the enemy flee at the sight of our old match.
The bible says lean not onto your own understanding. As husband and wife, the devil can never break in to your home, if you are standing as one. As a church the gate of hell will never prevail if we stand together as one, if we stop seeing ourselves as barrier but as one called to win souls. If we stop fighting over a member, but allow them to get rooted in Christ, for as much it is a living church.
May the Lord quicken His church in Jesus Name. Amen
