Matthew 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
5:15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
Beloved, Immediately you surrender your life to Christ, the DNA of God is passed into you. God is light and He's the only one that does good.
James 1:17
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
This world is extremely dark. If you noticed things happening around you, even outside the world you know that the world is truly dark.
Is it Rape? Murder? Corruption? Suffering? Accidents? Wickedness?
Rituals? Abortion? Idolatry?
The coming of Jesus brought light into this world. Think of it, what if Jesus had not come? Me, I believe this world would have end decades. Yes!
But God is merciful, Who will not want anybody to perish. He sent His Only begotten Son. Who is the Light of the World. When Jesus came, light step into the corridor of darkness, either religion or society. He rebuke sin, and established righteousness.
John 1:4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
1:9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
In Him was our light, without Him we would be lost in darkness. Before the Lord Jesus Ascended, He called us light of this world. To show the world the true way, and be free from the captive of sins.
Immediately you give your life to Jesus, the world will see you in different way, because you are now a light, " old things are passed away, all things are become new"- 2 cor 5 vs 17
Every Born again, is a light of in this world. You'll be noticeable, because you are a light " on a hill" that cannot be hidden. Men and women around will notice a great change in you, looking at Jesus in your life.
Now that you are The light of the world, what do the Lord wants from us?

1. We are to give light to those who are without. Preaching and telling them about the kingdom of God and the coming of Christ.
2. We are to show them the way of righteousness, so that they won't be lost in darkness.
3. We are to reveal God to them, so that they can serve their Maker.
5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
4. We are to do good works. Showing goodness and kindness to others. This world is cruel and filled with hatred, by showing kindness we would teach them the way to live. We live for Christ, so when we do good works people thanks to God and this propel them to Serve Him.
Finally,
5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
Being a light, people will hate us, persecute us and speak against us because we are not like them. The above verse is in contrast with people who justify grace with sin. No!
Christ came to save us from sin, who don't want to be free?
Righteousness, remains God's way of fellowship.
Men will hate you, they do to the Lord, even to the apostles, even to Christians in our world, even to you and me, but don't give up, keep shining for Christ.
" For He will never leave us nor forsake us"
