Anxiety
One of the reasons for the longevity of our parents is the lack of access to certain information. Our generation is filled with thousands of pieces of information flying every day; rather than helping, it is destroying.
Yes, information can create or destroy.
There wasn't much news media or social media back then, and because of that, their worries were fewer, and they could channel their energy into what's at hand.
We're in the age of social media, news, and lots of information.
People's blood pressure is increasing; anxiety, confusion, hatred, and bitterness are on the increase. And because of this, life expectancy is decreasing.
Without the use of social media back then, people lived contentedly, enjoying their labor and growing in gratitude to God. But today, people become insatiable due to what they see on social media or hear from an influencer.
Our Lord Jesus already prepared us for this, and He said,
"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." - John 14:27
In the midst of the uncertainty, there's peace and rest in Christ.
Turn off the news. Turn off the data. Deliberately select what you hear and watch. Control your feed. Stay in prayer and in gratitude. You need to live long to enjoy God's promises.
"Control what you can and leave what you can't to God."
God promised us long life; anxiety is the enemy.
"Whatever you hear consistently over time has the power to put your life on autopilot" - Dr Sam Adeyemi. You can choose your pilot - a negative or a positive one.
Bad news will make your heartbeat faster than it should; in that vein, take it to the Lord. Protect your peace and reduce your thinking.
Let His peace saturate your mind and soul.
Read a book, watch a nice movie, spend time with family, see a therapist, speak with a friend, take a stroll. Don't let anxiety clog your mind; it will lead you to depression or a health breakdown.
If you're not born again, you can just call on Jesus where you are and be saved.
"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." - Romans 10:13
Take time to rest. You don't have to be glued to bad reports. Let His peace be your shield, and you'll be fine.
Peace.
