The Kingdom Shift
Do you know that, when the 70 disciples came back from the mission the Lord sent them, they were already jubilating because demons obeyed them?
Luke 10:17 And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.
Firstly, the Lord encouraged them and went on to admonish them. He threw them a caution.
Luke 10:20 Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.
Why?
1. Because, It is possible that, after casting one demon, someone can change his name from a brother to mighty Bishop. Casting out a demon are basic things we should do as a believer. Today, we have many "Men of God" who became "men of God" because they cast a demon out. Is that all there is?
2. Jesus wants the focus to be Him. In the long run, if they continue celebrating every demon they cast out, they'll forget to give Glory to God, and also forget to take account of lives that are saved during the cause of the mission. Same thing today's church is doing. Jesus isn't in many churches today. They have left Him outside the door, knocking.
Luke 10:21 In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight.
3. We shouldn't "rest" yet when we're at war. The endpoint is to be at His feet at last. Many started well but no more today. Even Demas forsake Paul.
4. Focus more on the Kingdom Agenda. Today's church celebrates things that are minor and minor in things that are major. Thus, our focus needs to be in the right view. There is work to do. The night is coming!
It is possible to be celebrating material things and prosperity and forget what is important. Is God against our prosperity? Of course not. Most churches have never preached a salvation message since the beginning of this year. Just material and prosperity. They are jubilating because someone bought a car or built a house. Never have they rejoiced because someone came Into Christ. This is a misplaced priority!
Luke 10:2 Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.
5. The Same scenario happened towards the end of the chapter. Martha was "everywhere" but not at the Lord's feet. Even though she thought it was good, but it was a misplaced priority at that moment.
Luke 10:42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
May the Lord help us and revive His church in Jesus' Name.
