The Comfort Of The Lord

THE COMFORT OF THE LORD

Philippians  2:1 - "If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,"

Our God is a Loving Father, and His Goodness is revealed every moment - not just seasonal. He's also our Comforter. A lot of people seemingly play this role but no ONE can be like the LORD. People get comforted from different mediums, but none of them is most satisfying like the one that comes from the Lord. People seek games, alcohol, clubs, food, and recreational activities to get "comforted" but it doesn't solve anything. God's comfort, calms the soul and solves the problems.

We all have challenges. The way we fight it as believers is different from how unbelievers fight it. For us, Victory is Constant, but an unbeliever that doesn't know God will be swept under the carpet of life. God is our comforter.

Women, money, clubs cannot satisfy the longing of your soul, except Jesus. In this world that is full of ups and downs, tears and laughter, no doubt we really need Comfort, not from human calculations but one from God. Man can only comfort you to the degree he has the capacity, and he can give up when his limit has expired.

So, there are different ways God administers Comfort to His People.

1. The Holy Spirit.

Our Comforter. Thus, a believer is all-around protected. Even in pain and suffering for Christ, our Joy is untamed.

John  16:7  "Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you."

2. The Word of God.

Faith grows by the word, and the word is the food of the Spirit. God most times uses the promoting of a scripture in our spirit, to bring comfort. Our hope is restored and faith is quicken. That is comfort, coming from the word of the Lord.

1 Thessalonians  4:18  "Wherefore comfort one another with these words."

3. Prophecy.

Prophecy is meant to reveal God's mind. It captures God's thoughts concerning situations and persons and relates them. It is meant to bring comfort and perspectives to what is happening. Thus, we're strengthened and encouraged.

1 Corinthians  14:3 "But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort."

4. Brethren.

Being in the family of God brings us unlimited enjoyment of God's provisions, and one of them is Comfort. That's why fellowshipping with Brethren isn't outdated. It is very much valid as in the early church. We need one another to survive.

1. God can give a brother or sister word for you.
2. God can inspire a brother or sister to pray for you.
3. God can inspire a brother or sister to meet your needs in a certain way and capacity.

Philippians  2:1  "If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,"

5. Supernatural Aid.

In the case of Elijah, He encountered God's encouragement in another form. He was encouraged to eat that which was brought by an Angel. The works of angels are very much active today. God still sends them errands for you and me. Thus, we're not without help.

Hebrews  1:14 "Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?"

6. Testimonies.

One of the main reasons we share testimonies in the church is to GLORIFY GOD and also elevate the faith of the brethren. God can use someone's testimonies, or what He has done for you in the past, to comfort you. He can use the life of past generals or Brethren who stand in the faith despite all to bring comfort.

In all, WE'RE NOT WITHOUT HELP.

Thus, as believers, God's goodness and Mercies are Rich to us.

If you're yet to accept Jesus, you can do so now, and receive comfort in that situation and challenge. Just call on Jesus, and surrender your life.

Today, may you receive comfort in every area you're troubled and battled.
The Lord of hosts is stepping in, into that situation in Jesus' Name.

Amen.
