How's Your Disposition?

1 Samuel  13:13 And Samuel said to Saul, Thou hast done foolishly: thou hast not kept the commandment of the LORD thy God, which he commanded thee: for now would the LORD have established thy kingdom upon Israel for ever.

13:14 But now thy kingdom shall not continue: the LORD hath sought him a man after his own heart, and the LORD hath commanded him to be captain over his people, because thou hast not kept that which the LORD commanded thee.

13:15 And Samuel arose, and gat him up from Gilgal unto Gibeah of Benjamin. And Saul numbered the people that were present with him, about six hundred men.

The position of our heart sometimes determined what receive. How we position the antenna will determine how the signal will flow. The heart of man is always in either good or bad state. But when a heart is bad, it is terribly dangerous. The Bible established that "The heart of man is desperately wicked". The position or our response to the dealings of God matters alot. God works with the heart. The disposition of our heart will show if we love Him or not. The way we relate with God will tell if we will be obedient to His instructions or not. The heart condition is a very crucial issue to be diagnosed. When God has a problem with a heart that is negatively dispose to Him, it could affect generation.

Eli, had a good inheritance, in which his linage will be a priest for the Lord. It was the best portion any man could have. But he miss handle the covenant. He understands that His children are becoming wicked and he kept quiet. He didn't reprove them, but he left them to do anyhow. It shows the disposition of his heart towards God and His temple. When God's instructions came, he supposed to cry for mercy, he overlook the consequences. Eli's linage lost the priestly anointing because of the disposition of the heart.

Jeremiah  18:7 At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it;

18:8 If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them.

18:9 And at what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it;

18:10 If it do evil in my sight, that it obey not my voice, then I will repent of the good, wherewith I said I would benefit them.

Good disposition Is accompanied by humility. Jonah thought God would destroy Nineveh, but because the people repented, God change His mind. People don't understand that God doesn't change but He can change His plans.

If as a father I told my son I won't buy you bicycle because of one or two reasons, and he repented and throw good disposition towards me, I'll change my mind and call him and say, you are a good boy. He'd reply, dad, I won't that do that again!

Good disposition is accompanied by genuine Repentance. King Saul disobey an ordinance that only Prophet Samuel could attend to. He did the sacrifice without permission, therefore he sinned. The disobedience is so grievous that God takes jealousy of His honour. God spoke through Samuel about His judgement. King Saul didn't feel remorse or repenting, but the Bible says, "he counted all the armies that were with him". Is that an antidote to the judgement God has declared? Now we see a sharp difference between Saul and David. Whenever David sin, he acknowledged it and run to God for mercy. That is a good disposition, which God love. That is why David was a man after God's heart. King Solomon despite the disobedient, later before he died, he repented.

How's your disposition to the instructions of God?

When God said, "I'll make you Great". He mean it, the next thing is to walk in His precept and not turn aside. When a man deliberately choose to walk in an unholy way God would change His plan.

The prodigal son had a repentant heart, he acknowledged his sins and come back home, the Father was pleased to welcome him. He was welcomed as if nothing happened. You can choose a good disposition. When Prophet Isaiah told king Hezekiah God's counsel because he disobey, he said "as long as it is not done in my days, it's okay". What a terrible disposition. He avert the judgment upon the next generation. He could have humbly repented and ask for mercy.

How's your disposition?

God wants to help you. You can continue for long. Choose a good disposition today. Let your heart be humble before the Lord. He will exalt you. Choose His ways. Be humble enough to seek Him. Your disposition can either bring blessing to your generation or wrath.

Declare: Lord, forgive my wrongs. Give me a willing and obedient heart. Give me a heart of flesh, that yield to your word in Jesus Name. I ask for restoration, joy and blessing in Jesus Name.

God bless you!
