The Calling of God
The idea of ministry that I was told, seen, and experienced is one that is death to self and loyal to Jesus. I grew up under the tutelage of sound teachers and rugged pastors.
Whether in plenty or in lack, they abound. I have seen passions and burdens for the things of God that make them strong and courageous.
All this social media debate and noise are distractions. I have seen miracles, acts of God, judgment, mercies, and God's goodness. Truly, only a fool doubts proofs. I'll never join the group of people who debate on the miraculous acts of God.
The idea of the calling of God is such that you treat it with honor and guard it with all your heart. I wasn't just told, I have lived with men who truly laboured for God. That's why popularity doesn't move me. I don't run after church or pastors for trendy's sake. I listen or go to church because I am led.
That God called you is a thing of personal reflection that makes you exclaim, "Who am I that you are mindful of?" You spent hours just thanking Jesus for choosing you. Today, the template is different. When a brother is ordained as a pastor, he goes to Facebook looking for sympathy or congratulations. The focus has shifted from God to men.
"Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.' - Matthew 16:24
The calling of God today has been seen as merit. No time to labour and lock yourself with God. No time to even stay with the one who chose you. Everything is now for grams and Grammy. Carrying titles but lacking depth and the knowledge of the Holy One.
I have related more with elderly people whose passions and zeal for the things of God amaze me. Maybe that's why I'm a bit old school, but I love it.
We need to love God o. Fear God. Honor Him.
